One of Cleveland's newest built-out neighborhoods, the Bellaire Puritas area is located in the southwest corner of the historic West Park neighborhood and is bordered by four suburbs: Lakewood, Fairview Park, Brooklyn, and Brookpark. The neighborhood is best characterized by the stability of its housing market and high percentage of owner occupied housing. Between 1990 and 2000, housing prices in the area increased 74%. A new housing subdivision built in 2000, with average per unit prices approaching $200,000, quickly sold out primarily to local residents. 1998 Shoppers Survey Results: 55 percent of residents polled reported that they had lived

in the neighborhood ten years or more. Nearly 40 percent reported that they would rather live in Bellaire-Puritas than any other nearby community. Local residents also prefer to shop locally: 79 percent of those polled reported that they shopped at local stores at least once a week; almost 87 percent reported that they did most or almost all of their purchases of drug store items at stores in the neighborhood. When asked where they went when they dined out, 55 percent reported that they usually went to a neighborhood restaurant.
